OurMissionVision

For 80 years, PVA has been one of the largest support networks for our nation’s veterans with paralysis and other disabilities.

PVA grew from the determination of World War II veterans who returned home with spinal cord injuries. Together, they set out to build a future of dignity, participation, and independence.

Paralyzed Veterans of America was founded in 1946. Since its beginnings, PVA has worked to change the lives of veterans with serious injuries and help build brighter futures. Its purpose is to help those who served regain the freedom and independence they fought for. The Puerto Rico Chapter joined this work in 1966 and continues to serve veterans in Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands, as well as their families.

Mission

The Paralyzed Veterans of America, Puerto Rico Chapter (PRPVA), a non-profit organization, guided by its Congressional Chapter and the Fundamental Principles of the National Paralyzed Veterans of America service organization, is committed to addressing and devoting special attention to ensuring the timely delivery of benefits and high quality medical services to veterans of the Armed Forces who have suffered spinal cord injury or dysfunction (SCI/D).

Vision

The Puerto Rico Paralyzed Veterans of America (PRPVA) is responsive to meeting the health care and medical needs of veterans of the Armed Forces who have suffered SCI/D. The PRPVA promotes collaborative teamwork, devoting special attention to an increasingly innovative and diverse inter-professional environment that emphasizes high standards and focuses on more efficient and effective service provision for SCI/D veterans from Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands.
